5 Reasons-Part Two

Note: if you are reading this and feel lost, then make sure you start with part one of this blog post 🙂

4. There has been so much healing & redemption in my family divorce dynamicBusch Gardens Family Trip

God has brought so much healing and redemption among my entire direct family and I am so grateful for it 🙂

Things used to be really rough-to the point where my mom and dad were primarily communicating only through email.

They used to not be able to be in the same room together. Since each one of us has been pursuing God, here is a snapshot of what has happened in the last 15 months:

  1. We all went out together as one giant group during my college graduation for meals, etc. throughout the weekend.
  2. We had a giant birthday celebration weekend at Busch Gardens together – this included not only both my mom and dad and step parents, but also my aunt & uncle and obviously Claire and her family.
  3. We all have personal relationships with God that are growing each and every day
  4. We attend the same church together and all sit near each otherBusch Gardens Dad & Matt

These are just 4 things that have happened in a short time span and I could go on and on mentioning how much healing has taken place in all of these relationships.

Everyone is filled with he love of Christ and there is something seriously beautiful and powerful about that.

A lot of forgiveness has come through this situation as well. If you are a product of a divorced family, then I know you can imagine how powerful this is!

If your parent’s divorce was anything like mine, you definitely understand what I am talking about because I am telling you something…it was a ROUGH divorce.

5. I have REAL friends now

Matt Chris & Jake AlaskaGod has placed people in my life that I can truly call my friends now. The truth is, I don’t feel like I have any friends because college is a different dynamic than the real world.

I don’t have roommates or live with friends/see friends all the time and I am fine with that.

I realized I used to try to fill my void with being around friends all the time while seeking acceptance from them.

Now I have found complete Peace in the relationship that I have with Jesus, understanding that he fully accepts me for who I am no matter what. I don’t have to be on my “A-game” all the time for him to love me and accept me.

Claire is my best friend, and my brother is also my best friend…yes, I have 2 best friends! I have friends from my young adult group and other small groups I have plugged into at my church and in my community.

Chris & Matt AlaskaReflect back on the type of friends I had before I was a Christian…isn’t this so much better?!…Having people that genuinely love and care about you.

Sure, they’re not perfect but they love and care about you just as Christ does.

And guess what, they are people you can get real with about life without feeling afraid, rejected, or isolated.

Yes, I am talking about sharing your the deepest, darkest, dirtiest, scariest parts of your life with your friends!

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” – James 5:16

Just as I have chosen to get real with you guys and make friends with you online, I hope to become your friends too and that you would feel comfortable sharing on here in a like-minded, loving, caring, community 🙂

communityI want to be clear that you should not go and share these things unless you feel safe.

Ideally, you would want to share with people who you can trust, who love God, and will accept you no matter what even when you share the darkest parts of your life with them.

If you are not a Christian and are reading this, then please feel free to share on here.

That is part of why I created this site – to harvest a safe, loving, and caring community where people can share their burdens and lift each other up!

If you do not feel comfortable sharing publicly, then please send me a private email at matt@fulfillmentinlife.com

I know I covered a lot in here but from a general overview…if there are things on here you read that you have questions about or would like for me to elaborate/share more about, then leave it in the comments and I will do my best to address that.

Also, please feel free to share your feedback below regardless! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this post, I hope it touched your heart in some way and helped you out! 🙂

Matt what can I say. Your site is for 15 to 25 year olds? Your words have impressed a 61 year old guy…me. I’ve always believed that this old dog CAN LEARN new tricks lol. Your experiences in high school and college sure sounded like you were talking about me. I relate to so much of what you talk about. Difference is, my walk with Jesus did not start until just a few years ago.

Like you, I was an “outcast” all through high school … even the party animals thought I was a geek. In college, I finally made some inroads with the rocking and rolling crowd but I dropped out and joined the military. I had a miserable childhood… I was born, baptized and raised in a devout Catholic family with 8 other siblings. Even in that environment I found very little love and acceptance and was often the object of ridicule, blame and chastisement , and beatings for things I had no part of. In my pre-teens, I tried to establish a small footprint as my defense mechanism… I was very quiet and very scarce… I preferred the solitude of any quiet corner I could find in the house to read something. I joined baseball as a pretense to not be home all the time. I found an old basketball rim and attached it to a piece of plywood, then mounted that on the roof of our storage shed. I spent hours shooting hoops daily. After one year in college, still living at home and working a part-time job, I joined the military. I wanted to be free from the fear and unhappiness surrounding me. It all followed me in some form or another through 2 failed marriages. Until a brother asked if I would study the bible with him. Thats when things started to change…little by little…step by step. Like you, I find comfort and encouragement in reading God’s word every day.

Catholics are Christians too because they believe in Christ. True Christians are followers of Christ, not followers of men. Therein lies the difference.

Final thought: Your website has meaning for all ages. Take it from me.

May God bless us all in the name of Jesus Christ.

WOW…what can I say except that I am humbled by your compliment, and I give all the thanks and Glory to God our Father. Also, thank you so much for sharing your testimony on here. That is a HUGE part of what I was going for…that people would feel safe enough to open up on here and know that they will be loved and accepted, NOT judged and rejected.

I am really grateful that you shared your story, It just made my day! I absolutely LOVE your distinction you make about true Christians…that is the absolute truth.

I too grew up Catholic but then had a unique situation where I was going to non-denominational church one Sunday and then Catholic church the next Sunday. I can’t remember if this was in one of my posts but it opened my eyes to Christianity for the first time. Now, you can definitely be a Christian and still be Catholic…I am simply speaking from my personal story and experiences and it seems you have a similar story.

Thanks again Tom. You already said it, May God bless us all in the name of Jesus Christ 🙂

I would like to express apoirciatepn to this writer for bailing me out of this particular situation. Right after surfing around throughout the online world and obtaining proposals that were not pleasant, I was thinking my life was gone. Living devoid of the answers to the problems you have sorted out by way of this article is a critical case, as well as ones which may have adversely damaged my entire career if I hadn’t encountered the website. Your main talents and kindness in touching all the things was invaluable. I’m not sure what I would’ve done if I had not discovered such a point like this. I can also at this time look forward to my future. Thank you very much for your reliable and results-oriented guide. I will not think twice to recommend your web blog to any person who should receive recommendations on this matter.

I have been browsing on-line more than three hours nowadays,
yet I never discovered any fascinating article
like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the
web might be much more helpful than ever before.

Thank you! There’s still plenty of great content out there, it’s just a lot harder to find it these days :/
